AMJ Player of the Week

The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Michael Latta is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 2nd.

Playing in three games this past week, the St. Clements native recorded eight points, two goals and six assists. In the Storm’s first game back from the Christmas break, Latta was named the second star of the game picking up an assist on both Guelph goals in the 3-2 loss to the London Knights. On Thursday against the league leading Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, the Predators third round pick assisted Peter Holland on the first goal of the game and later set up Taylor Beck for the insurance marker in the third as the Storm defeated the Majors for the second time in a month. On New Year’s Day against Saginaw, Latta had a four point game scoring the Storm’s first and third goals and adding two helpers. The 19 year old was named the first star of the game in the 7-3 victory over the Spirit.

With eight points on the week, Latta remains in third place among Storm leading scorers with 47 points. He is third on the team in goals with 19 and second in assists with 28. Producing at well over a point per game pace, Latta has seven powerplay goals second to only Peter Holland who has 11.
