Liam Hawel selected 101st overall by the Dallas Stars in 2017 NHL Entry Draft

Guelph Storm forward Liam Hawel, was selected in the 4th Round (101st Overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars.

The Arnprior, Ontario native was acquired by the Storm on January 6 from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and he excelled seeing his points-per-game jump 13 percent. In total, the six-foot-five, 179-pound centre recorded nine goals and 19 assists for 28 points in 66 games played. Another highlight for Hawel was being selected to represent Canada at the U18 World Junior Championship.

Hawel, becomes the 10th player in franchise history to be selected in the fourth round, joining Justin Auger, Ben Harpur, Ben Chiarot, Michael Caruso, Ryan Callahan, Colt King, Eric Beaudoin, Chris Madden, and Jamie Wright.
