By Randy Russon, Sault This Week

A dozen games into his Ontario Hockey League career, Sault Ste. Marie native Nolan Makkonen is impressing as a rookie with the Guelph Storm.

The 1999-birth-year defenceman moved up the OHL and the Storm from the Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League on Jan. 10 and has since taken a regular shift with Guelph, which is in last place in the Western Conference in the second season of a major rebuilding project.
