Storm Acquire Rights to Andrew Somerville from IceDogs

General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett announced today that the Storm have acquired the rights to 1999-born defenceman Andrew Somerville in a trade with the Niagara IceDogs.

In exchange, Niagara will receive North Bay’s 14th round pick in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.

“This was an opportunity to add a talented player, and strengthen our organizational depth on the blue line,” said Burnett.

Somerville, a 5’10”, 172-lbs defenseman from Niagara Falls, split last season between the IceDogs and the Fort Erie Meteors of the GOJHL.  In 45 games with the Meteors, he posted 48 points (eight goals, 40 assists), while tallying two assists in 11 games with the IceDogs.
