On Thursday September 14th the Guelph Storm welcomed the Hamilton Bulldogs to town for a midweek pre-season matchup. Looking to build on their last pre-season game, rookie goaltender Nico Daws would get the nod in net.

The first period was off to a slow start as both teams struggled to find their way early on. As the period progressed the pace of play would pick up, but the period would ultimately end goalless with the Bulldogs leading in shots 11-5.

The second period would see more action as the Bulldogs opened the scoring just 1:26 into the frame with a goal by Arthur Kaliyev. The Storm continued to battle throughout the period and would even the game at the midway point with a powerplay goal by Barrett Kirwin (pictured), Owen Lalonde and Cedric Ralph would be credited with the assists. Through 40 minutes of play the score was even at one with the Storm leading 21-19 in shots.

Heading into the final frame the Storm looked to break the deadlock, but found themselves in penalty trouble early on. As the period continued both teams would have quality chance, but it was the Bulldogs that would capitalize and take the lead with just over 6 minutes to go as Liam Van Loon would put one past Daws. In the final minute of play Hamilton would add an empty netter to make it 3-1. The Storm were able to get one back and make it 3-2, but were unable to complete the comeback. Shots at the end of play were 33-29 in favour of the Storm
