Subway Super Series-The History-2011

 The Subway Super Series is coming to the Sleeman Centre! Game 3 will be played on Thursday November 8, 2012 at 7:00pm. This is the tenth year that regional teams of CHL All-Stars will compete against the Russian Junior Team as part of a six-game series.

 


 

 The History of the Super Series


2011

Team OHL enters the 10th Anniversary of the series with a perfect 18-0 record against the Russian Selects.

2011 started with 2 losses for the QMJHL Teams 2-0 and 5-4 in Quebec against the Russians.

Once in Ontario the OHL Teams remained unbeaten although at one point in Game Three Russia led 6-4. The OHL ended up with a comeback win of 10-7. Eight different OHL players had multi-point games with Freddie Hamilton being named the Player of the Game with a hat trick and an assist. Game Four in Sault Ste. Marie saw Team OHL with a win of 6-3 over the Russian Selects. Ryan Spooner of the Kingston Frontenacs was named Player of the Game after adding a goal and two assists to the win. The OHL scored 5 of their goals in the first period with 3 being on consecutive power plays. Greg McKegg of the Erie Otters had a three-point night while also scoring the game winner.

Team WHL took Game Five with a 5-2 win over Russia to leave the CHL teams victorious over the Russian Selects despite a 7-5 loss in Game Six.
