Sunday, December 10th, is the annual Teddy Bear Toss game sponsored by Brent Johnson of Wellington Motors, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Fiat, at the Sleeman Centre as the Storm host the Kitchener Rangers for a divisional showdown!

Last year it was rookie Ryan Merkley who scored the Teddy Bear goal just over 10 minutes into the first period. The Storm would end up defeating the Kingston Frontenacs 4-3 in overtime.

As we get ready for Sunday’s game, here are some Teddy Bear Toss Facts…

– Over 16 seasons, the Storm has collected over 45,000 new, or ‘slightly loved’ stuffed toys that have been donated to charities in Guelph and around the world.

– The average time of the Teddy Bear Toss goal over 16 seasons is 2:38 into the second period.

– The most bears ever collected by the Storm in a single game was 3,800 in 2012-13

– The Storm’s record in 16 Teddy Bear Toss games is 9-5-3-0.

– The earliest Storm goal recorded on a Teddy Bear Toss night in Guelph was in 2009 when Matt Sisca scored at 1:13 of the first period.

– The Storm were held scoreless only once on Teddy Bear Toss night, December 2nd, 2002 against the Brampton Battalion (4-0).
