Billets & Life in Guelph
Guelph Storm Billet families are an integral part of your son’s hockey experience while in Guelph. For many hockey parents, when their son joins a junior team, it will mark the first time that he has left home. The Guelph Storm makes every effort to ensure that this transition is seamless for the player and the parents.
BILLET CRITERIATHE SELECTION PROCESS¦ Our billet families are selected after passing a rigorous set of selection criteria including (but not limited to):
Reason for wanting to billet
Geographic location to both the school and the rink
Number of children
An on-site visit is scheduled where our staff visits each home and meets with all members of the family. Other factors are determined by our on-site visit:
Physical Appearance and overall cleanliness of the home
Does the Player have his own room which includes a sturdy single or double bed and a study desk?
Is there available parking for a player with his own vehicle?
We try our best to meet the needs of both the player and the billet family when considering a potential match.
Does your son have allergies? Does he like pets? Does he like small children? We take all of these answers into account when determining the best possible home. Most of all ¦we want your son to feel that he is in a warm safe and stable environment that he can call his home away from home
