Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Player of the Week

Monday, January 12, 2015

GUELPH, ON — TYler Bertuzzi has been named the club’s HY-GRADE STEEL ROOFING PLAYER OF THE WEEK for the week ending January 11, 2015.

Tyler’s five points in three games have yielded him this honour for a team-leading fifth time this season, with an honourable mention going to  Bradley Van Schubert and his first career OHL victory on January 11 v. Kitchener.

On Friday night v. Mississauga, the fourth-year Storm forward tied the game in the third period and narrowly missed scoring the game winner on two occasions, as the Storm lost 2-1 in overtime.

The following night in Sarnia, Bertuzzi assisted on Jason Dickinson’s opening goal just 2:24 into the first period.  He then buried a power-play goal late in the second period to keep the Storm in the game, cutting the team’s deficit to 4-2 in an eventual 5-3 loss to the Sting.

On Sunday, another installment of the Highway 7 Rivalry saw the Storm pick up their only win of the weekend, and Tyler posted a goal and an assist as a key contributor.   He assisted on Zac Leslie’s first period goal, and then capped the Storm’s scoring by roofing a snapshot past Jake Paterson in the third period.

With his point streak at four games, Bertuzzi has eight points in five games thus far in January, and sits 10th in the OHL scoring race with 57 points in 41 games.

Bertuzzi and his teammates are set for yet another ‘three-in-three’ weekend, with a couple of tough road stops to kick things off.   Friday sees the Storm travel to Sault Ste. Marie for a matchup with the Western Conference leading Greyhounds.  The Storm are 0-1-1 against the Greyhounds this season, who recently added stars Nick Ritchie, Justin Bailey and Anthony DeAngelo prior to the OHL trade deadline.

On Saturday, the team begins their trip back south with a stop in Saginaw.  Luke Cairns will suit up against his former team for the first time since joining the Storm in December, and the Storm and Spirit will wrap up their season series.

Finally, the team returns home to host the Kingston Frontenacs on Sunday at 6:30pm at the Sleeman Centre.  World Junior gold medalist Lawson Crouse is scheduled to be in the lineup for the Frontenacs, who are currently battling for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Storm fans looking for huge savings can take advantage of the team’s Mucho Burrito Savings Pack, which features four tickets and four burrito vouchers for just $60 + HST.  The savings pack is available at the Storm box office at Old Quebec Street Mall or at the Storm Kiosk as Stone Road Mall.

As always, single game tickets are available by clicking HERE, by calling 519-837-9690 or by visiting either of the abovementioned box offices.
