Sparkling win for Storm

It’s become a familar story for the Storm this season… lose Friday night… bounce right back with a win in their next game.  After one of their worst efforts of the season at the Sleeman Centre on Friday, the young Storm squad quickly put it behind them with a 3-0 win in Peterborough over the Petes on Saturday evening.

Garret Sparks earned first star honours as he collected his second shutout of the season turning aside all 32 Petes’ shots to outduel Mike Morrison.  Meanwhile, Frank Menard carried the offence to the win with his second multi-goal game in the last three as he scored shorthanded and added a powerplay tally late in the third.

Kyle Pereira picked up assists on both of Menard’s goals while Patrick Watling and Matt Finn added the other helpers.

With the visitors ahead by two and Morrison on the bench in favour of the extra attacker, Zack Mitchell notched his team leading 21st of the year from Menard and Tanner Richard.

The Storm will have a chance to avenge their 5-0 home loss versus the Spitfires in their next action when they travel to the WFCU Centre in Windsor on Thursday night.  Two nights later, they’ll  be in Barrie to take on the Colts before wrapping up a busy weekend on Sunday afternoon versus the streaking Sarnia Sting at the Sleeman Centre for a 2 pm start.
