Fashion Lighting Player Spotlight – Jacob Maillet

Born in Dundas, Ont., eight-teen-year-old Jacob Maillet was drafted 39th overall in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound centre has appeared in 21-regular season games this season posting 6 points.

HOW IT STARTED

Question: When and how did become involved in hockey?

A: When I was 5 my parents signed me up for Timbit’s Hockey and I never wanted to stop playing after that.

Q: Have you always been a forward?

A: Yup, always.

Q: Are there any players you style your game after, and if so, who?

A: Mitch Marner because he is good offensively and defensively.

Q: Who would you say is your biggest support system?

A: My parents are definitely my biggest support system.

HOW IT’S GOING

Q: How would you describe the energy of this year’s team?

A: Really high, all the guys get along really well. We have a competitive group, so the energy is extra high on game days.

Q: What motivates you to work hard?

A: I want to play professionally somewhere when I’m older. Whether it be the NHL or another league, just want the opportunity to keep playing.

LOOKING FORWARD

Q: What are you personally working on the most this season?

A: My shot probably.

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?

A: Hopefully somewhere in hockey professional for sure.

Q: What’s a piece of advice you’d give to someone pursuing an OHL career?

A: You have to work hard and stay patient, sometimes it gets tough but you just have to keep working.
