Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Player of the Week

October 14, 2014
Tyler Bertuzzi has been named the Guelph Storm Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Player of the Week for the week of October 6-12, 2014.
In a light week leading into Thanksgiving Weekend, the Storm played just one game, a Friday night battle at the Sleeman Centre with the North Bay Battalion. Bertuzzi notched a goal and an assist and showed why he is considered one of the top power forwards in the Ontario Hockey League.
The game was a rematch of the 2014 OHL Championship Series, which Bertuzzi of course played an instrumental role in this past May.
On Friday, Bertuzzi opened the scoring in the first period with a power-play marker at 13:32, his first goal of the season.
Throughout the game, Bertuzzi displayed his trademark physicality, highlighted by a couple of clean, open-ice bodychecks and a spirited scrap with North Bay forward Zach Bratina.
In overtime, Bertuzzi once again took to the power-play, this time setting up Stephen Pierog’s game-winning goal to give the Storm a 3-2 victory.
The Storm moved onto Kitchener on Thanksgiving Monday to battle the Rangers (statistics will be eligible for next week’s Player of the Week honours), but dropped a 6-5 decision to their Highway 7 rivals.
The team returns to the Sleeman Centre for a Friday night game against the Niagara IceDogs and a Sunday matinee v. the Saginaw Spirit. With the Storm playing twice at home this weekend, it marks the first time in the 2014-15 season that the “Weekend Pass” is in effect.
Fans who purchase tickets for one of the weekend games can purchase tickets for the other game for just $10 by visiting the Storm box office at Old Quebec Street Mall or Stone Road Mall.
It’s shaping up to be an exciting week in Storm City, with the club looking to improve upon their 2-1 home record, and star forward Robby Fabbri expected to make his season debut.
