Storm acquire MacKenzie Entwistle from the Hamilton Bulldogs

GUELPH – Guelph Storm General Manager and Head Coach, George Burnett, has announced that the Storm have acquired forward MacKenzie Entwsitle from the Hamilton Bulldogs in exchange for two 2nd round picks in 2020 (KIT and NB), a 3rd round pick in 2020 (KIT), a 3rd round pick in 2021 (WSR), and a 3rd round pick in 2023 (GUE).

Entwistle, a six-foot-three, 181-pound right winger from Georgetown, Ontario was the Bulldogs’ second round pick (40th overall) in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection and was later selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the third round (69th overall) at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Following a trade, Entwistle is now a signed prospect of the Chicago Blackhawks.

“We are very excited to acquire a player of Mackenzie’s calibre,” said Burnett.  “He is a proven champion and an outstanding two-way player that can carry a heavy workload in all situations.   As a former captain in our league, he will provide leadership and experience to our group.”

Spending parts of four seasons in Hamilton, the Blackhawks’ prospect played 192 regular-season games registering 46 goals and 58 assists for 104 points, adding 19 points (11 goals, eight assists) through 28 playoff games. Also appearing in four games at the 2018 Memorial Cup, Entwistle tallied two points in the tournament following an OHL Championship with the Bulldogs. This season with Hamilton, Entwistle was named captain, potting 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points through 29 games.

Internationally, Entwistle is most recently returning from representing Canada at the 2020 World Junior Championship, recording three goals in five games played. Previously for Canada, Entwistle appeared in the Under-17 tournament in 2015 and the Under-18 tournament in 2016-17.

Entwistle will make his Storm debut on Sunday when the North Bay Battalion visit the Sleeman Centre for a 2:00pm puck drop.
