Storm get first win of the season with 7-3 victory over Attack

After a couple loses to start the regular season, the Storm were looking to down the Owen Sound Attack on the road and add their first win of the 2021-22 season to the books.

The first period began with some fast-paced hockey. While the beginning of the period featured a lot of back and forth play, the Attack were able to capitalize first with a goal by Deni Goure.  The Storm were quick to bounce back with two late goals in the first period. Matthew Poitras put the Storm on the board with the help of fellow rookies Michael Buchinger and Jake Karabela. Marko Sickic also put one in with the help of Sasha Pastujov and Matthew Papais to make it a 2-1 game to close at the first period.

The fast-paced game did not let up in the second period. Sikic opened the second period scoring just 0.09 seconds into the middle frame. The 3-1 lead was short-lived, however, as a quick Owen Sound goal from Ethan Burroughs made it 3-2. Daniil Chayka found the back of the night for his first goal of the 2021/22 season with the help of Jacob Maillet and Ben McFarlane. Matthew Papais, Sasha Pastujov, and Daniil Chayka were able to close out the second period strong for the Storm making it a 5-2 game.

Both teams came out  hard in the third. Braeden Bowman scored twice and Attack forward Cedrick Guindon got one, but Jacob Oster sealed the deal for the Storm in his very first OHL career start, making 20 saves, to give the Storm the 7-3 win.
