Storm lose OT heartbreaker to Rangers

By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury – Ryan Gottschalk (pictured) was in a pretty positive mood Friday night. Surprising, given what the newest member of the Guelph Storm has gone through this week.

On Thursday Gottschalk was traded from the Ontario Hockey League’s best team, the Barrie Colts, to one of the worst. Then Friday he suffered through a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime loss to the Kitchener Rangers with his new teammates.

“I was surprised at first, but with the bad comes the good and Guelph seems like a great place to come to so far,” said Gottschalk, who came to Guelph in exchange for Matt Kennedy.

“I hear Barrie won 10-2 tonight, so I don’t think they’re missing me that much,” he joked.
