Storm squander game in hand with loss versus Spirit

The Guelph Storm had a chance to pull within striking distance of the fourth place Kitchener Rangers on Saturday night facing the eighth place Saginaw Spirit at the Sleeman Centre.  Instead of climbing within a pair of the Rangers, the Storm wasted their game in hand and fell 5-3 in front of nearly 4,700 fans on Saturday night.

The Storm trailed 2-0 and 4-0 after the first and second periods.  Powerplay goals by Tanner Richard and Patrick Watling sparked a third period comeback effort, but Eric Locke’s second of the evening put the home side in a hole that they couldn’t dig their way out of.  Also scoring for Guelph in a frantic third was Ryan Horvat.  For each of Richard, Watling and Horvat, their tallies were their 10th of the campaign to bring the total to 15 different Guelph players with double digit goal totals.

Guelph heads to Sarnia on Sunday afternoon for a 2 pm start.  On Wednesday night, the Kitchener Rangers visit the Sleeman Centre for a 7 pm start.
